What is Newroz?

Newroz which means “new day” in Kurdish, is a celebration of life, spring and the new year. On March 20th of each year, Kurds around the world celebrate the coming of the Kurdish new year with fire, music and dancing. People dress up in colorful clothes and head to the parks and mountains to light the fire of Newroz and welcome the new year.

For Kurds, Newroz is not just a celebration of a new year, Newroz holds a special place in  our heart, It signifies our freedom and identity as culture.
